One of the great talents of the British is to present things in a wonderfully matter of fact yet dignified way and then to allow complete free rein. This demonstrates a remarkable respect for things that are as British as Darjeeling First Flush in a porcelain teapot on a crisp white cloth. And a cultural nonchalance epitomised in an attitude towards nature and particularly the flora: just think of the wonderful English gardens and parks. The traditional British textile industry plays an equally special role, its patterns, colours and shapes uniting specific groups of society and recounting British cultural history: one of the many reasons why mimicri is dedicating its first nationally-inspired collection »mimicri LONDON« to the facets of British culture and tradition, cuisine and fashion, modernity and curiosities. In Britain, fabrics are particularly strongly associated with certain garments or cuts. Specific colours and patterns define the typical polo shirt or trench coat, and equally familiar accessories, such as hat and scarf, which are beloved companions of the British in every season. In its new »mimicri LONDON collection«, the young German label draws on this tradition and cautiously but boldly reinterprets classic British garments and accessories.

These include the »WARREN« polo shirt for men, a women‘s shirt called »VICTORIA I« or »VICTORIA II« with either low or high, foldable collars, the cool and en vogue »BOND« hoodie with kangaroo pockets, the BAKER« beanie in the style of the well-known beanie hat for men and women, and the futuristic »QUEEN« hat for women. As accessories for »LONDON«, mimicri has transformed its »SEN« weekender bag as well as its »MUC« pouch from the first collection. Except for »SEN LONDON«, all products are made of a modern bonding fabric consisting of nylon and cotton. Featuring »Clary« on the outside and »Bluebell« on the inside, with its »LONDON collection« mimicri has once again created special everyday wear, equally suited for leisure time with friends, travelling or business.

The new statement pieces are simple in shape and flexible in their individual styling thanks to the mimicri print in combination with the two-tone fabric from Italy. Raw-edged – and deliberately as pure as possible – the sleeves and cuffs of the new fashion pieces can be rolled up to create colour contrasts. The »QUEEN« hat and »BAKER« cap can be worn casually or elegantly as stylish accessories. The graphic-geometric mimicri print creates a unique structure – small honeycombs that can be folded individually.

»mimicri LONDON« showcases the diversity and versatility, the uniqueness and the potential provided by this exclusively implemented textile printing technique in combination with a new interpretation of conventional fashion. With the launch of the new collection, mimicri invites particular characters from England to recount their stories about favourite places, about culinary and fashion preferences and much more in the narratives on the mimicri website, providing insights into the special features that distinguish the British and their country – a second glance to discover the extraordinary in the supposedly unspectacular.
